So, I cut together a rough version of the hand-boat sequence. Some of the timing and sound still needs work, but it gives you a better sense of the complete scene.
Oh- this is so good! Terrific animation and editing! I only have one small suggestion that may or may not work. When he says, "Hey, cat!" how about you cut to his reaction shot on "cat"? It would be interesting to try an edit and see how it works- it might pack more of a punch.
Only weird thing for me is that, in the last shot, Ray appears to be walking, but doesn't seem to go anywhere. Maybe if he moved slightly farther across the screen, or if the background moved, or something.
