Character Designs and Turn Arounds

So, some things may change towards beginning of production, but here are the initial designs of Ray and Blotto (yes, his name is Ray, now) as well as their bios. You can click on the pictures to enlarge them

Ray Schilling

Ray was born in Hamilton, Ontario. Growing up, he had a fairly happy childhood; he has 2 brothers - one younger, one older – who he often played with a lot. His family would often take family trips, one of the most common being their vacations down to the Great Lakes. After he graduated from high school, he attended the University of Western Ontario and got his degree in accounting.

His mother died on Ray’s 22nd birthday, leading to the division of the Schilling family over the mother’s will; Ray, devastated, never asked for anything, and spent the next few years in deep depression. He met Kate Stockton at a bank where she was a teller. After two years of dating, they moved in together. However, Ray still never felt quite happy, especially since their relationships consisted mainly of arguing, which Ray isn’t very good at. He worked at the Walthorpe Accounting Firm for 5 years before being laid off. Right now, he’s 33.

Ray is a rational, honest man who’s never had any bad intentions, but always seems to be a victim of misfortune. He’s a little bit of a wimp, and often doesn’t stand his ground.

Blotto

Blotto is the transcendental Cat-God who lives in the High Five realm, and is always fun-loving, mysterious and keeps it cool. He is a descendant of Felicles, a cat that belonged to Hermes, the Greek Messenger God; through this ancestry, he has inherited supernatural powers and deity-like qualities. He received his first high five from his father as a kitten, and was immediately obsessed with the concept of the high five. An honest and trustworthy advocate of good will and righteousness, Blotto ventured out at the age of 18 (that’s in cat years) and moved into an area a few thousand light years away from the Pillars of Creation. Over the decades, he fleshed out his space, thus resulting in the High Five Realm. Ever since, he has given himself the responsibility in restoring faith in humanity… through high fives.

Blotto, though he declares himself to be a Cat-God, isn’t officially under that position. He just calls himself that. Every now and then, he’ll revert to his cat-like instincts, such as playing with string or cleaning himself.

  1. Nice character designs and backstories. Your films always have such nice stories :) Can't wait to see the finished product.

  2. I love Blotto.

Ray's cool too, but his head seems to change shape a little bit from view to view. The 3/4 front looks best to me.

  3. I agree with Careen.

BTW, I found a great reference for your high-fiving cat!
